Exercises for Calfs
Working on the lower legs is mostly about getting your calf muscles to grow which will 1 boost your speed and 2 make you a complete contender. There are allot of part time lifters who have huge upper bodies but has no leg strength for whatever reason- mostly due to working entirely on too many mirror muscles. in order to work on the calfs you can add it into your leg press by simply placing your feet under the plateform and performing calf raises. using machines to do the calf raises and leg curls. You walk on your calfs every day so does it make since to put light weight on the machine and expect growth or to have low amount of reps to do so is silly. Calfs are something that is 60% genetics and if you are fortunate to be born with genetics that allow you have huge calfs is a blessing. Although for those who are not- you should make it a point to hit calfs more then any other body part due to the fact that it is so hard to see improvement from working it out.
This is one muscle that is worked allot in full body execrises, leg press and other activities outside of weightlifting. It is important that it is developed in order to be able to excel in athletics due to the high accelaration that is needed and the strengthing of this muscle makes it possible to sprint faster, strike harder, swing harder or do any other movement with more power behind it considering most actions require ground force behind it and the calfs help with ground force.
