Boxing

Boxing has been held as the “Sweet Science” for good reasons… The main thing about boxing that the average person who is full of brute strength ideals and concepts coming in with the mind state of a street fighter is that you often do the opposite of what you think is you should. An example would be that striking is meant to be fast strikes over strength compared to the raw power that few posses like Tyson who was just a phenom and a pure power fighter… Many can be that power fighter although the smarter fighters do not use all their power by making all of their blows killer blows in the since of trying to only provide the knock out blow every swing. Another example of doing what you are not naturally thinking is shown in the movie “Million Dollar baby” one of the moves he mentioned is the fact to avoid a blow often a fighter actually goes towards the punch which one would think would only make it easier for others to strike you. This is not the case…

Boxing has been around since BC, very little is known about it before 1700’s primarily due to the use of weapons and side arms that people wear openily in the past.

Being able to provide the prefect game plan for creating the best boxer someone can be often is first needs to know the level of commitment they are willing to put in the game, natural ability plays a part in it but not as much as determination, body type and when they should begin training. The best fighters are often considered boring, passive and defensively countering mostly. Some fighters are not strong but can keep a high punching volume to make up for th lack of strength while others are stronger but can not compete because of the lack of speed or the ability to adapt to the game plan. Being able to be quick on your feet is key to fighting in the boxing ring considering the many movements one has in the ring. Much of the training one goes through in boxing gym is centered around jump roping and feet work… The best trainers doesn’t allow fighters to even throw a punch for the first few sessions instead try to teach their fighters how to move, generate power with legs and to learn the basics.

Boxing is a sport that can teach humility, discipline, provide a means for fitness and potential to make a living.
